Only truly exceptional applicants will be considered. Our roster

Who are we?
Vanguard is a mature raiding guild that was founded in Vanilla and
has been raiding competitively since Molten Core, ranking at best
within the top 100 guilds in the world while maintaining a healthy
raiding schedule of 12 hours per week over 3 raiding days. Within
the 3 day a week bracket, we typically rank in Top 5 EU.
The majority of our core members have been competing at the highest
level possible in this game, including the guild master who is
renowned for great leadership skills during raids and will expect
the very best from each raider no matter what rank they hold.
We all love to raid, and clear content as fast as possible, but
while being able to live productive lives outside of the game
without sacrificing too much.
We prioritize perfect play in all it's forms. Both in terms of
doing damage, and avoiding taking it. The only thing we prioritize
as highly as perfect play, is that our members are nice people
also. We have no drama, no people talking down to each other and we
want to keep it that way.
We encourage a healthy atmosphere of competition, both in terms of
doing damage, but also avoiding taking damage and typically favor
people who execute mechanics perfectly.
Vanguard values having a small but active roster, and as a result,
we have a very small bench. Just enough to never have to cancel a
raid (Only two in entire MoP), but not enough so that people
spend majorities of raids sitting out. Having to put loot on fewer
people has also resulted in us being one of the highest average
ilvl guilds in the world.
We do not believe in yelling or abusing members who do make
mistakes, and focus is placed on ensuring that if a mistake is
made, it is turned into a learning opportunity, rather than a
The mindset our ideal member has, is to see an ability on the PTR
and immediately think in terms of mechanics. Why does that ability
behave that way? Who does it target? Where does it target people?
Why does it target them? What other ability will make handling this
mechanic more difficult? How can you optimize your own class'
ability to deal with this mechanic?
People who react when an event happens will never be able to
compete for a spot against our members who are trained to always
anticipate events and solve the problem before it becomes
If you are the type of player that can go a month without making a
mistake, and who doesn't need to be reminded of boss abilities
during fights, then you will fit in well with us here.
We encourage a high amount of personal responsibility in our
raiders own performances, and do not hold hands. Instead, we trust
all our members to do the right thing, at the right time, on their
own initiative. It is the responsibility of all of our members to
always be in the best spec for any given fight, and always swap
into the right talents and glyphs for optimal performance.
We encourage and lead our members to be the very best in the World
when it comes to execution, and hold many #1 in the World ranks on
Warcraftlogs for Efficiency.
So why should you apply to Vanguard?
Honestly, chances are that you shouldn't. A person that only
dedicates himself 90% or even 99% to what he does will not be able
to compete for a spot. Many of our applicants simply fall short
because they don't have the mindset to play perfectly and many
recruits fail because they are not used to the atmosphere of
If however, you are a passionate perfectionist who takes pride in
doing everything perfect. If you are a person who will always try
to do it better and more efficiently than your last performance,
then we are the guild for you. This guild is for those of you out
there who are used to being the best at everything, and here you
will find competition from our players that will challenge you to
be even better.
Here, you'll find a guild that rewards team play and flawless
execution. Not mindless greeding or meterpadding.
Raiders are expected to attend these raids on a close to 100%
We are proud to be 3 days and continue to be competitive with a
great reputation. We rarely ever go overtime, and don't need to add
more days, killing everything fast and efficiently long before new
content comes out.
The only exception to this is the very first week of each new Tier.
where we run two 25-Man raids. In these, our mains have been evenly
split for most loot efficiency, and filled the other spots with
alts, for the purpose of putting all loot on the mains.
All members are required to have at least one alt that they
can play at maximum ability, as we run dual raids once the
main-raid is on farm.
Many of our core members have many alts, capable of playing each at
a competitive level.
We use a loot council for fast and fair distribution of loot. The
better you play, the more likely it is for you to receive the best
items. We simply place loot where it will do the most good for
progress purposes, and during farm on those who are most reliable
and who performs the jobs required for the success of the raid
without being told to.
For a limited time we are hosting events on Openraid which will
allow people interested in finding a new guild a chance to get to
know us, and prove their worth in a raid scenario instead of the
