The Prophecy Mission Statement:
An increasing number of people reject both the casual and hardcore
stereotypes. We look for a middle ground between "too little" and
"too much". We are dedicated players who often play every day and
frequently raid, but not on the rigorous schedule of hardcore
guilds.
Our weekly raiding schedule is Thursday 8-11pm ST, Friday/Saturday
9-12am ST. But we don't make raiding all three days mandatory; we
put a premium value on people's real lives. We make progress at our
own pace: long periods of simply "treading water", bringing down
the same bosses over and over again interspersed with short bursts
of rapid progress bringing down a string of new bosses in a short
period of time before running into the next roadblock boss again.
We have yet to be a guild that downs bosses in Heroic modes
according to Blizzard's calendar; we choose to leave that "honor"
to the hardcore raiding guilds rather than push our friends and
"family" to treat WoW as a second job.
In raids, we will not hesitate to spend an hour or two bashing our
heads on a new encounter, trying to gauge where our weaknesses lie,
such as a general lack of understanding of the fight's intricacies,
lack of gear, or bad latency. However, prolonged exposure to the
futile head bashing can frustrate the best of guilds, so if we seem
like we're not having fun when you join us, don't take that as who
we are all of the time. We've had some fantastic success in our
several-year run; we were one of the few 25 man raiding guilds that
have been around since Vanilla WoW. Currently we are running 10 man
raids, but still trying to get back to our 25 man raiding
roots.
This burst-drought cycle tends to spawn from having two sets of
players in the guild, "more hardcore" and "less hardcore" (social
& casual players). Usually, the bursts occur when both the more
and less hardcore players have finally caught up to each other in
gear and knowledge, allowing for a burst into new territory where
the cycle repeats itself.
This fair mix of the social, casual and hardcore, incorporates the
best of both worlds: Social and Casual players to keep the
atmosphere light, Hardcore to keep the guild on track.
Our motivation is self-imposed. We try and have a positive, fun and
friendly environment that we all love. We have enough personal
hardcore-ness to get us through most of the hardest fights in this
expansion. We may never reach heroic end bosses, but we'll kill the
rest and have a blast doing so.
As our officer, Tielyn, likes to say, "I don't go into a
progression fight expecting to fail. I go in expecting to be
pleasantly surprised; fortune sometimes still favors the bold and
the stubborn."
